State Hospitals
The Dry Eye Compassion Program offers treatment services for dry eye at a reduced cost to patients who are unable to afford standard fees.
Who Qualifies?
This program is intended for patients who:
- Have moderate to severe dry eye
- Do not have private insurance coverage
- And either:

Have a low family income, as defined by the Canadian Federal Government. Please note that proof of income is required. Please see page 2 for definitions and instructions on obtaining proof of income.
OR - Have experienced recent personal hardships that have negatively impacted their financial situation. Examples include:
– Job loss (either the applicant or a family member)
– Death of a financial provider in the family
– Unexpected expenses resulting from personal hardship

What Will Patients in the Program Be Required to Pay?
Managing dry eye requires ongoing commitment from patients. As such, we ask participants to contribute a portion of the treatment cost. Depending on individual circumstances, this contribution ranges from 5% to 15% of the total cost. 100% of these payments go directly toward supporting the program.

Does Meeting the Criteria Guarantee Admission?
While we aim to support every patient in need, enrollment capacity is limited. Due to partial reliance on in-kind support, we may not be able to admit all eligible applicants at any given time.
